HEROES APPROACH PRACTITIONER (hap) training – new cohort announced

From January 2026, we are officially launching the HEROES Digital Programme- and alongside it, our first ever online HEROES Approach Practitioner (HAP) Training, so you can study, train and be coached with us from wherever you are in the world.

This marks a really important milestone in our mission to expand compassionate, trauma-informed support to more people, while ensuring our practitioners feel grounded, skilled, and deeply connected to the work.

Although this is our first online cohort, the HEROES Practitioner Training itself is well-established and has been delivered and honed over the past 3 years with outstanding success. We already have a growing network of HEROES Approach Practitioners delivering trauma-informed support across mainstream and private mental health services, and the results have been consistently powerful.

For those of you who follow our news, you may know that we’ve now expanded city-wide across our hometown of Leeds through the NHS. Taking the training online feels like the naturally grounded next step- allowing us to widen access, reach more people, and deepen the impact of this work on a much larger scale.

 About the Practitioner Training

(HEROES Practitioners Kiran Bhath and Sharon Ness, with founder Miranda)

The HEROES Practitioner Training is a comprehensive and transformative journey into trauma-informed coaching, group facilitation, and nervous system support.
Over 17 weeks, you will move through a blend of live sessions, guided learning, and self-paced study- all designed to help you develop confidence, presence, and clarity in supporting others through profound emotional healing.

A core part of the process will also involve you completing the HEROES Digital Programme as a participant. This lived experience allows you to embody the principles of the work, and is essential for facilitating this approach with safety, integrity, and depth.

No previous qualification or experience is necessary.
What matters most is your willingness to learn, your compassion for others, and your commitment to your own personal growth. We guide you through everything step by step, ensuring you feel supported, confident, and prepared throughout the entire journey.

📘 What’s Included

  • 30 hours of live practitioner training sessions with Miranda, using our unique, HEROES framework

 Next Steps

If you feel drawn to explore this further, we would love to hear a little about you.
Please email hello@heroesprogramme.com including a short reflection of no more than 250 words covering:

  • Your current role (if any)

  • How you hope to use your trauma-informed HEROES skills

  • What personal growth means to you at this stage of your life

This gentle application helps us ensure the training is a meaningful fit on both sides.

Our vision

This new phase for HEROES feels deeply aligned with our wider intention: to support healing not just as a psychological process, but as a human and spiritual one- rooted in compassion, connection, validation, safety, mind-body awareness and the understanding that transformation and trust are possible for everyone.

If this resonates with you, I would sincerely be honoured to support you on this path…

What does the H.A.C. (HEROES Approach Coaching) training entail?

You will be trained in a unique manner, to use a motivational coaching approach. All our practitioners go through an intensive training package in order to enable them to be able to practice presence with all our students, so that we do not create an identity for them out of their past pain. HEROES facilitators are trained to educate, coach and create a trauma-informed container conducive to healing.

As a HEROES facilitator, you will guide people to move forward with their lives, navigate change, build a positive relationship with themselves, and remember the truth of who they are, beyond their trauma or conditioning.

As part of the training, all facilitator training delegates also go through the programme in its entirety themselves, looking at their own healing and giving them the lived experience required to teach HEROES.

Our HEROES practitioners are coached to use the tools they teach. We can support you or your organisation to create a person-specification to recruit the correct staff, should you decide to roll out HEROES as a service.

Further information for healthcare and community organisations

Solution-focused:

Alongside the dramatic impact that the programme will have on the lives of your patients and clients, the HEROES groupwork programme has been proven to support organisations/service teams to address priorities such as:

  • Building capacity
  • Sustainability of services delivered
  • Health population management
  • Health inequalities
  • GP Mental Health (reduction of mental health appointments for already over-stretched doctors)
  • Improved scoring for SMI targets (HEROES offers a service where engagement for health and meds checks becomes simplified).
  • Fewer patients needing referrals through to the mainstream mental health system waiting list, which sadly currently stands at an average of 3 years throughout the country.

Participant Outcomes:

Within our initial pilot of HEROES, 100% of patients’ PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire) scores had decreased by mid-way through the programme. 95% of these results were reduced even further by the end.

  • 95% of patients returned consistently throughout the 8 weeks, marking successful engagement. (Following session one)
  • 95% of patients reported feeling more hopeful in their ability to manage change in their lives following session 4
  • 100% of patients reported feeling like they had learned new tools to help them in managing their mental health at the end of the programme
  • Increased social engagement, weight loss, employment management/ commencement following long-term ‘sickness’, drug and alcohol detox, healing from chronic pain and walking away from abusive relationships have been consistently recurring outcomes

Who can run HEROES from your staff team?

HEROES is not designed to be run by clinically trained staff, (although it can be if this fits with the needs of your organisation). Individuals commencing on their learning with us do NOT need any prior experience of running groups, or even working within mental health. Although a willing and interest in running groups, working as a coach and within mental health are clearly essential. We can support you to write a person specification should you require this for internal or external applications.

Patient Ambassadors, Social Prescribers, Community Connectors, Mental Health Support Workers, General Support Workers and Health and Wellbeing Coaches will be well placed to become facilitators.
